iPod Challenge

The past few weeks I have read the blogs of various friends doing the ipod Challenge, iPod Roulette, Shuffle If You Dare... whatever they call it it's basically the same thing. Put the iPod on shuffle and, without skipping, reveal the 10 songs that pop up. It's supposed to be an exercise in honesty as far as your record collection goes. Alright...
1. "Montana"- Rocky Votolato. This tune comes from Mr. Votolato's Suicide Medicine album. This is a really cool collection of songs. I think he does a really good job of carrying on the folk tradition while incorporating all the stuff that's come after it. Yes you can hear Dylan's influence, but you can also hear Black Flag, too. 
2. "Strings of Nashville"- Pavement. I like Pavement, but in the spirit of the game I will admit that they're definitely not my most played band. This song reminds me of the Velvet Underground in a good way. My brother is a huge Pavement fan and the guy has great taste in music, so there's that. 
3. "Monday"- Jon Brion. Jon Brion is the producer that everyone loves to say they love. He is awesome, but it doesn't change the fact that it's very trendy to drop the name. This tune comes from the I (Heart) Huckabee's Original Soundtrack. I really like the way the drums sound. 
4. "History"- John Davis. A little Husker Du in this number? I think this record, Arigato!, is the next logical step in punk music. It's very melodic and nicely produced, but it's also currently melting my ears off as I type.
5. "The Battle of Evermore"- Led Zeppelin....
